Bismillah…
This term, our big theme is “All About Me” and we are focusing on learning about Baduy tribe. It includes the people, the language, the home, musical instruments and their lives as the indigenous Sundanese ethnic in Banten Province.
To enhance our knowlegde and understanding about Baduy tribe, we went to visit them up in Kanekes village, located in Lebak regency – Ciboleger, Banten.
While we were around the Baduy neighborhood, we played with our Baduy Buddies, learnt to play their musical instruments called Kecrek as Marracas, Cilempung and Gambang. We also listened to a story about friendship and had a very delicious Baduy food for lunch. At the end of our visit, we thanked our Baduy Buddy by giving them little presents that we bought from home. We also bought some local hand made souvenirs for our families.
It is very overwhelming to see how Al Kawakibians got really engaged with their new Baduy Buddies and were really engaged in finding more about their new friends.
We strongly believe that students who learn about different cultures will grow up with tolerance. This kind of activity allows them to interact with wider range of social groups, and find more confidence in themselves as well as accepting and respecting diversity. Aaamiin.
